Watch this news segment about death threats a fellow student said during an argument with your’s truly.
When I spoke with a deputy about these comments on Wednesday, he told me that since I argued with the kid who said "gays should be shot, hung, or drowned" and "if it was up to me I’d shoot everyone of yall motherfuckers in the head. And burn yalls bodies." I “antagonized” the situation, therefore provoking them to make these comments. He basically told me to just stop commenting. “And tell all your little girlfriends to stop commenting too.”
Bonus dialogue from the officer:
- "You have to understand that there are consequences for choosing to live the lifestyle that you chose to live."
Bonus dialogue from the officer when I went in again the next day:
- "This isn’t a hate crime."
- "It’s his right to the 4th Amendment of free speech."
My friends and I have been verbally and physically harassed by the other kids who made hateful comments in the thread as well. On Wednesday night, my friend, who is a gay male student was threatened directly by the same student who made the comments in bold in the first paragraph. The message says:
- "Why the hell you have to be sendin the screen shots around and talkin shit? You’re just gonna make things worse for you. I won’t kill you but I’ll definitely fight you and hurt you. Forsure. Better stop what you’re doin or you’ll have it comin to you"
As of Thursday he’s been suspended from school for a whopping five days. To which he updates his Instagram with “5 day suspension! Hell yea”
The moral of the story is that I’m scared to even post this on social media, let alone walk through the hallways by myself, or at all really. And not a damn thing is being done about it.
Note: The boy was suspended for 5 days due to the direct threat to me, the openly gay male, not for threatening and wishing murder upon the LGBT community, as the police officer said. “It’s just an opinion.”
